Many of us are far away from where we were born. We’ve left our family behind and are all alone. The hustle of New York isn’t very forgiving, and it can be hard to find your place.
Did you know that Jesus migrated, too? The Bible says that Jesus had to leave his home while he was still a baby. His family was forced to escape to another country for asylum to avoid being killed. Later in his adult life, Jesus spent years effectively homeless – in his words, he had “no place to lay his head”.
More than that, Jesus left his “family” – his father God – in heaven in order to live on earth as a human. Why did Jesus do this? So that we could find a home and a family with him! The Bible teaches that the evil things we have done have separated us from God. Everyone has done bad things, so we all experience this separation. In place of relationship with God, we try to find belonging with friends or family. But friends often desert us, and family lets us down. We are far away from home, and nobody cares.
Jesus left his home in heaven to provide a way for us to find true belonging. He promises that God loves us and will never let us down. He offers peace with God and an eternal home with him that we will never have to leave. In fact, Jesus said that he is the only way to find true love and happiness, true belonging and family.
Have you experienced the love of Jesus? Would you like to find out what it’s like to truly belong? We would love to hear from you! * 620-259-0140 *
