A man called Jesus lived around two thousand years ago. He traveled and taught many people before being executed by the Roman government. Since then, people have described Jesus in many ways: prophet, fanatic, guru, or a nice but misguided man.
But do you know who Jesus said that he was? He didn’t claim to be any of those things. Instead, he said much more astonishing things about himself. Jesus said that he was the solution to the world’s biggest problem.
As the Bible describes it, the sinful, unjust, and shameful things that we do separate us from a loving God. Because of our evil actions, we are destined to be forever alone, powerless and insignificant. Jesus said that he alone could connect us back to the love of God. In fact, he claimed to be God himself. Some people believed him, but many were offended by this claim. They were so offended that they had him killed. The Bible teaches that Jesus then came back to life and is still living today.
